Depopulation of laying hens Read more

I obtained my Bachelor degree at the University of Bern in 2013. I investigated effects of early life experiences, such as separation from the parents and egg-predator presence in the cooperative breeding cichlid Neolamprologus pulcher.  In 2014 I joined the Community Ecology group, still at the University of Bern. During my thesis I investigated night time pollinator communities in seminatural landscapes. My work ended in early 2016 when I received my Master degree. My current research deals with depopulation in end of lay hens. I intend to identify sources of injuries and stress for the hens as well as for the catchers conducting the depopulation. In a second step I will try optimize the process in order to increase animal welfare and working conditions for the people involved.
